Kinofilm 11

Manchester European Short Film Festival

27 April – 2 May 2010

Since 1995, Kinofilm has supported over 3000 filmmakers, screening short films from over 20,000 international submissions.

Kinofilm's mission is to create awareness and understanding of the short film format, through exhibition, distribution, promotion and education. Kinofilm aims to champion the medium of short film and, through this medium, promote cultural diversity.

The festival has provided a platform to emerging filmmakers, many of which have gone on to become some of the UK’s top independent filmmakers, including; Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers), Damien O’Donnell (Inside I’m Dancing, East is East) and Lynne Ramsay (Ratcatcher, Morvern Callar).

The 11th edition of the festival will be held at AMC Cinema, Instituto Cervantes and various venues across Manchester, and will showcase a diverse mix of short films, highlighting talent from not just the North West, but from across the UK and Europe.

Polish Programme

This year for the first time the festival will reach new audiences with a Polish cinema strand and a Polish Film Poster exhibition (the first of its kind to take place in the UK outside of London).

Transitions

Another festival first for 2010 is a special showcase of debut features from UK and European filmmakers who have recently made the transition from short film to feature, or from those directors that have moved into features from other art forms.

Education

Alongside, the festival will be a comprehensive programme of workshops, masterclasses and panel discussions.
